I’m a musician from a musical family, my great aunt wrote “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” so I feel a family obligation to write songs that are more fun! Most of these songs are written in a stream of consciousness manner, they just come, I just let ‘em happen. They are part of a greater collection, a cd as an organic entity, where each song becomes a prism through which to view all the other songs.

“Right Now” – Psychedelic grunge garage, Morrison actually did come back and jump into my body when I wrote it.
“If I Could” – The first song I wrote after my fourth attempt to swear off songwriting shows that one can truly court the muse with contempt. Lysergic metal, the entire song came to me instantaneously in a dream.
“Leon Krunchbone” – Don’t ask- I don’t know. I dreamed the first line in that limen between sleep and wakefulness, and the rest of the song is a pure accident. Creativity often happens by accident, art lies in knowing which accidents to keep.
The only line in the song that’s content driven is “Re-rorzhac that yak while you’re at it!” So-don’t ask.
Stranded in Albuquerque with a Corvair
“Stranded in Albuquerque with a Corvair” – Yep. All of it true, even the lumberjack, out there on the dark, dead-end side of the street.
“Nothin’ but Love” – This one came as a beautiful surprise. In writing it, I was Sure I had heard it before, but then, having never heard it before I wrote it, by process of elimination I realize I wrote it. That is my daughter, that’s why it’s “Daddy Song,” and my dog doing the counterpoint to the banjo and the harmonies to the horns. Can’t go wrong with babies and singing dogs.
“I Love You” – I was lonely when I was seventeen.
